The Dubai city Fountain is the world’s largest choreographed fountain system. It’s built on the artificial man-made lake of Burj Khalifa which measures about 12 hectares (30 acres) right in the middle of the Downtown Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It had been designed by WET Designers, the California-based company and the masterminds behind the fountains at the Hotel Bellagio Lake in Las Vegas. The fountain is lighted by 6,600 lights and 50 colorful projectors, it’s 275 m (902 feet) long and shoots water up to five hundred ft (152.4 m) into the air while the series of beautiful and charming soundtracks ranging from classical to modern-day Arabic and world music. Its construction cost was AED 800 million (USD $218 million). Isn’t quite amazing?
The name of the fountain was chosen after the contest organized by the developer Emaar Properties, whose result was declared on the 26th of October 2008. Testing of the fountain began in February of 2009 and also the fountain was formally inaugurated on eighth of May 2009 along with the official opening ceremony of The city Mall.
The Dubai Fountain can spray 22,000 gallons (83,000 liters) of water within the air at any moment. It remains enlightened and glorified with 6,600 lights and fifty color projectors. The fountain contains 5 circles of various sizes and 2 arcs. During the end of the year 2010 an additional component was introduced which is the fountain fire, this remained on display for public temporarily for the New Year eve celebrations of 2011. The Dubai Fountain consists of the many hard-hitting water jets and shooters: oarsmen or water robots, which make the water appear to bop, the normal shooters shoot water upwards; super shooters shoot water below with a lot of pressure up to seventy-three m (240 feet) within the air, and extreme shooters, shoot water below with the pressure to five hundred feet (152.4 m) within the air. These shooters produce a loud “boom” noise when water is ejected. The extreme shooters are used for the minimum time possible during any given show because the proper functioning of extreme shooters takes some time to build up pressure and energy to shoot water on greater height within the air.
The fountain is animated with performances set to soothing. Light and charming music. It’s visible from each side of the lake promenade and from several neighboring structures. Performances happen at 1:00 pm and at 1:30 pm furthermore from six pm to ten pm on weekdays, and from six pm to eleven pm on weekends (weekends being Thursday, Friday, and Saturday).
All of the fountain’s performances are surrounded and accompanied by the charming music generated through speakers around the lake, It also happens that the Dubai fountain is operated without music in for testing functions.or to have the view of the performances from some distance away, as, from the surrounding buildings, the music may not be audible.
